  Information:
Note: The automatic engine speed control should be disabled during machine travel.Note: For proper machine control and proper braking, travel with the boom over the front steering axle. The functions of the steering and of the travel pedal are reversed when the steering wheel is over the fixed rear axle. When you travel for any distance, keep the stick inward and carry the boom in a low position. When you drive up a steep grade, keep the boom as close to the ground as possible. When you travel uphill or you travel downhill, keep the boom on the uphill side of the machine.
Adjust the operator's seat.
Fasten the seat belt.

Turn the engine speed dial (1) to the operating range.
To activate the machine's hydraulic systems, lock the left console in the DOWN position.
Raise the boom far enough in order to provide sufficient ground clearance.

Disengage parking brake (4) .
Select required transmission gear (5) .Note: The transmission automatically defaults to second gear. The transmission will stay in second gear until the operator changes the gear.
Release service brake pedal (2) .
Move travel speed pedal (3) to the desired direction and to the desired speed.Slowing and Stopping the Machine
In order to slow the machine, release travel pedal (3). The machine will come to a stop. For faster stopping, the service brake pedal (2) needs to be depressed.ReferenceThe service brake pedal can be locked for periods of servicing. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls" for additional information on the service brake pedal. After you come to a complete stop, engage the parking brake by pressing parking brake control (4). See Illustration 3.Downhill Travel
Traveling down a grade with wheeled excavators at low engine speed can produce abnormally high oil temperatures in the travel motor circuit. Abnormally high oil temperatures in this circuit may damage the travel motor and cause seal failures in the transmission. When traveling downhill, the engine must always operate at maximum speed.
The following procedures must be observed during downhill travel:
Always turn the switch for automatic engine speed control to the OFF position during travel.
The position of the travel pedal defines the speed during downhill travel. Release the travel pedal in order to bring the machine to a complete stop on slopes below 10%. This will be valid only for a machine that is not towing a trailer.
When you travel downhill always use the lowest gear.Reduce engine speed when you maneuver the machine in tight quarters. Reduce the engine speed when you move over an incline.Select the necessary travel speed range before you start to travel downgrade. Do not change travel speed ranges while you go downhill.Do not allow machine overspeed while you travel downhill. Use the wheel brake pedal to reduce machine overspeed. When the load is pushing the machine, use the slow speed range. Use this range before you start to travel downgrade.Towing a
