Introduction
Perform the following actions after any AWD service
Fill the all wheel drive (AWD) hydraulic oil
Purge the air from the AWDThis process includes the following procedures:
Fill the AWD pump with hydraulic oil.
Purge the air from the AWD control manifold.
Purge the air from lines to the AWD motor control solenoid.
Calibrate the AWD pump and the motor control solenoid.
Purge the air from the AWD motors.Required Tools

Locate the quick disconnects (1) for the pump inlet.
Attach the hose from the hydraulic power unit onto quick disconnects (1) .
Allow the pressure in the hydraulic unit to build up to 250 kPa (36 psi). Hold the pressure for 2 minutes while each case fills.Note: Monitor the amount of hydraulic oil that is in the pump.
Repeat Step 2 through Step 3 for the remaining quick disconnect.Purge the Air From the AWD Control Manifold

The AWD control manifold
Locate the four hydraulic quick disconnect fittings (1). The fittings are located on the AWD control manifold (2) .
To create a hose assembly for the purge process, perform the following:
Assemble the 6V-4144 Quick Connect Coupler (B) to the 8S-7169 Coupling (C) .
Assemble the 1S-8937 Needle Valve (D) to the 8S-7169 Coupling (C) .
Assemble the remaining 8F-0024 Hose As (E) to the 1S-8937 Needle Valve (D) .
Attach the hose assembly that was assembled in Step 2 to one of the quick disconnects (1). Place the other end of the hose into a suitable container for collecting hydraulic oil (F) .
Start the machine and set the engine speed to low idle.
Open needle valve (D) and allow the oil to flow into the container until air is no longer present in the oil.Note: Hold the end of the hose in the container.
Close valve (D) .
Shut off the engine and remove the hose assembly from the quick disconnect. (1)
Repeat Steps 3 through Step 7 for the remaining quick disconnects (1) .Purge the Air From the Motor Control Solenoid Lines
Start the machine and allow the engine to run at low idle.
Use the Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) service tool to override the command to the solenoids that control the AWD motor controls.
Raise the command from 0% up to 100%. Hold this command for 2 seconds. Lower the command from 100% to 0%. Hold this command for 2 seconds. Repeat this step 10 times.Calibrate the AWD Pump and Motor Control Solenoids
If the calibration is successful, then stop
