The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
There have been several cases where the machine ECM was mistakenly regarded as the reason for the machine control failure. Examples such as the engine remains at low idle and cannot be changed at any throttle dial position, no throttle position display at the monitor and the ECM indicator light was not on or red. In most cases the ECM was replaced which was found to be normal.Solution
Follow the procedure in Illustration 1 to perform machine ECM troubleshooting. If further assistance is needed, work with your Caterpillar Technical Communicator to submit a Service Request.
