1. Loosen four bolts (2), and turn adjustment rod (1) to remove the tension on the vee belts. Remove the vee belts from the belt tightener.2. Remove four bolts (2), and remove belt tightener (3) from the engine. 3. Remove the bolts, and remove bracket (4) from the engine.Install Belt Tightener
1. Put bracket (1) in position on the engine, and install the bolts to hold it. 2. Put belt tightener (3) in position on bracket (1), and install the bolts to hold it but do not tighten the bolts.3. Put the vee belts in position on the pulleys, and turn rod (2) to make an adjustment of the belt tension. Measure the belt nearest the radiator with a belt tension gauge such as Borroughs Tool Company Part No. BT-33-72C or an equivalent. Tighten new belts until the gauge indication is 534 22 N (120 5 lb.). For belts with more than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed a gauge indication of 400 44 N (90 10 lb.) is used.4. Tighten the bolts that hold the belt tightener, and fill the belt tightener with clean grease.Disassemble Belt Tightener
