Refer to the following article.Description of Change: The former pistons have been cancelled and replaced by new pistons. The former remanufactured cylinder packs which included the one-piece pistons are also cancelled and replaced by the cylinder packs with the new pistons.Adaptable To: The new pistons are suitable for use in the above Engines. The 278-0247 Pistons are a direct replacement for the cancelled 233-2431 Pistons and for the cancelled 144-0720 Piston Crown As. The 282-0644 Pistons are a direct replacement for the cancelled 233-2430 Pistons and for the cancelled 133-8383 Piston Crown As. The remanufactured cylinder packs are direct replacements for the former cylinder packs, which are cancelled.

The following parts are still serviceable: 263-8955 Piston Pin, 253-1238 Pin Retainer, 214-6066 Piston Ring (Top), 144-5695 Piston Ring (Intermediate ring) and 223-6361 Piston Ring (Oil) .The 204-5447 Piston Cooling Jet As and 193-3282 Retainer As are reused with the new pistons. The piston cooling jets and the retainer for the piston cooling jets must be replaced if you are changing from two-piece pistons to one-piece pistons.
Failure to install the correct piston cooling jet and retainer will result in inadequate lubrication. This will cause piston seizure and catastrophic engine damage. Install the correct piston cooling jet and the correct retainer.
