Start By:a. remove tire and rimb. remove drive axle The following procedure was preformed with the axle housing removed from the machine. It is not necessary to remove the axle housing from the machine to remove the final drive.
When the final drive is to be removed with the axle housing removed, as shown, be sure to secure the axle housing. If the axle housing is not secured when one final drive is removed, the weight of the remaining final drive will cause the axle housing to become unbalanced and will result in possible rapid movement of the remaining final drive and axle housing.
1. Attach a lifting device to the final drive, as shown. Remove bolts (1) that hold the final drive to the axle housing. Remove the final drive. The weight of the final drive is approximately 5333 kg (11,735 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the final drive. 2. Install guide bolts, as shown, in the final drive. Align brake inlet holes (2) & (4) with the holes in the axle housing. 3. Install a lifting device on the final drive. Position the final drive on the axle housing and install bolts (1).Tighten bolts (1) in an alternating sequence to a torque of 1400 175 N m (1040 130 lb ft). Turn each bolt (1) an additional 120° 5° (one-third) turn, in an alternating sequence.End By:a. install drive axleb. install tire and rim
