 Electronic Control Module (ECM)
Before the ECM is replaced, ensure that replacement is necessary. The ECM is seldom the cause of a fault. Always check that power is available to the ECM. Battery voltage is required between contacts J1-1 and J1-2 of the machine harness connector for the ECM. Continue ONLY if all other attempts to isolate the problem have failed. Always consult the technical communicator at your dealership for a possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce the time that is required for a repair.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the machine harness from the ECM.
Remove the ECM.
Make sure that the replacement ECM is the correct part number.
Connect the machine harness to the ECM.
Install the replacement ECM.
Install the most current software
For PM201 or10-20B systems, enter "FAC99999" for the product ID serial number. For all others, enter the actual machine serial number.
Cycle the power.
Set the Grade and Slope status to "Installed" in the ECM configuration file.
Cycle the power, again.CD620 Display
Before a failed CD620 Display is replaced, the new display must be registered and activated by the dealer prior to use. When you register the display, you will receive a unique registration key to be used to activate the display. This registration process will allow for the display to be upgraded as newer versions of software are released.Perform the following steps in order to obtain the registration key for the display:
Obtain the serial number and record the serial number from the identification plate that is located on the display.

Complete the registration form that is located on the website. For additional information in order to register the display, refer to Special Instruction, REHS3666.
Select "Submit" on the web form, when the information for each required data field is complete. You will be asked to review the data again and confirm your input. Review the information and then select "Confirm". Within 30 minutes, an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address that was submitted on the web form. The e-mail will have the registration key number that is required in order to activate the display. Provide this key number to the appropriate person in order to enter into the display.

Service Agreement Password Display
Power system up by turning machine key to the "ON" position.Once the Display has powered up, press the "Menu" button and navigate through "Configuration" and "Advanced Option" menu to the "Service Agreement Password" screen. Refer to Illustration 1.
Enter the 24 character option key that was obtained above.In order to enter the characters, use the arrow keys on the keypad of the display. The arrow keys will scroll through the characters available to enter into the highlighted space. Once the correct character has been selected, the sideway "Arrow" key on the right-hand side of the display will
