SERVICE LETTER SUPPLEMENT U-98 A-46.1 AU-76 C-96 O-72 Some information for the installation of the starter motor needs to be added to the following Service Letter. August 11, 1986 - PI3140; Replace 3Y8851 Starter Motor Group On Certain D4H Tractors Attach this Service Letter to the August 11, 1986 Service Letter. Installation Instructions 1. Turn off the disconnect switch. 2. Mark the location of the harness wires connecting to the existing 3Y8851 Starter Motor Group. 3. Remove the 3Y8851 Starter Group. This starter can be identified by a relay mounted next to the starter solenoid. A red label may also indicate 3T2764 which is the parts service number for the 3Y8851 Starter but not the starter part number. 4. Install the new 3T2764 Motor Group. 5. Connect the wires as follows: 301-BU to MOT (motor) terminal on solenoid 207-BK to starter ground terminal 304-WH to S (start) terminal on solenoid 101-RD to BAT (battery) terminal on solenoid BK-00 to starter ground terminal RD-00 to BAT (battery) terminal on solenoid 6. Reposition the 6T2217 Resistor as shown in Illustration 2. Use a 4B4674 Washer (1/4" flat) between the head of bolt and the clip that holds the resistor wires in place. Illustration 1.
