Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the recoil spring. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Recoil Spring - Remove".
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Cotter pin (1) and nut (2) are located from the bottom of the spring guide.

Place the recoil spring assembly in a press. Align the recoil spring assembly with the press. Compress the recoil spring assembly in order to remove cotter pin (1) .
Remove nut (2) from the recoil spring assembly.
Slowly release the compression on the recoil spring assembly.
Once the spring compression has been fully released, remove the recoil spring assembly from the press.

Remove spring guide (6) from the plate.
Remove spring (5) from the rod.
Remove rod (4) from plate (3) .
Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the other side of the recoil spring assembly.
