When the pump is in a neutral state, the swashplate is at a minimum angle to reduce horsepower consumption. This is accomplished by a hydraulic signal from the pilot pump on the machine to the power assist port. When the electronic solenoid receives a signal and the pump load exceeds the pilot pump pressure, the swashplate angle is increased and the electronic signal then controls the pump flow. The pump output is increased as the signal is increased.A 24 VDC power supply is required to bench test this pump. If one is not available, the FT2373 Electrical Displacement Control Test Box may be used. It is recommended that a multimeter be placed in line between the FT2373 fabricated tool and the proportional valve to accurately measure the current to the solenoid at all times.
