PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSTALLING AN INSULATION PANEL AND WELD TO THE MUFFLER STACK FOR VENTURI ON 24M MOTOR GRADERS

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The Muffler Stack needs to be welded on the products listed below. The existing Muffler has a Venturi cone inside of it that may become loose. An insulation panel also needs to be installed for heat reduction to the enclosure. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 10Jul2011 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Refer to REHS7143 "Installation of the Venturi Stack for the 24M Motor Graders" for details on how to install the Sound Panel and Weld to the Muffler Stack for the 24M.
1. Remove Venturi Cone and Stack (1).

2. Follow steps 4 through 8 under title "Remove the Existing Exhaust" in REHS7143 "Installation of the Venturi Stack for the 24M Motor Graders."
3. Install the Venturi Cone and Stack removed in Step #1.
4. Install the 268-3908 Insulation Sound Panel as shown under the title "Installation of the Sound Suppression Panel".
