(3) Fan bypass solenoid The fan motor is a fixed-displacement gear-type motor. the fan motor is equipped with an anticavitation check valve, which prevents cavitation of the fan motor when the engine is stopped. Pump supply oil comes into the fan motor through inlet port (1). The fan speed is controlled by the amount of oil that fan bypass solenoid (3) allows to flow through the fan motor. Both the bypassed oil and the oil flowing through the fan motor exit the fan motor through outlet port (2). This oil then flows to the hydraulic oil filter and into the hystat pump.Reversing Fan Motor

(4) Reversing fan solenoid The reversing fan motor works in the same fashion as the standard fan except for having reversing fan solenoid (4). The reversing fan is controlled through a switch in the cab of the machine, which allows the operator to switch the fan in reverse to help clear debris from the radiator system. The fan will also reverse according to a pre-determined interval, which is configurable through Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).
