Remove the 135 mm (5.32 inch) spacer. Add temporary ties between the upper and lower brackets to aid in minimizing weld distortion of the brackets. Ensure that the pin can be rotated by hand in the bores after welding. See Illustration 14.

Add 4 mm (0.16 inch) to 6 mm (0.24 inch) heavy tack welds in the bracket radii and at the ends of the brackets that are approximately 25.4 mm (1 inch) long. Do not weld across the end of the brackets. Alternate tacks between each side of each bracket and between the upper and lower brackets to aid in minimizing heat input into the brackets. Ensure that the pin can be rotated by hand in the bores after each heavy tack and compensate for any distortion. Make additional intermittent heavy tack welds at a 75 mm (2.95 inch) approximate spacing.
Repeat Steps 2 through 9 for the left-hand side for item (1) and (3). Refer to Illustrations 13 and 15 for the identification of parts and a view of the left-hand side prepared for heavy tack welding.

Remove the pin from the bore for final welding. Complete the final welds in three passes. Complete the root pass welds in the vertical up welds at the center trunnion first using 0.035 mm (0.0014 inch) wire. Complete the root pass between the gaps in the heavy tack welds using 0.045 mm (0.0018 inch) wire. Make two cover-welds using a sequence that alternates between the welds on each bracket, the upper and lower brackets, and the right and left side of the blade to permit some cooling of the welds to minimize heat input that may cause distortion. Refer to Illustrations 16,17,18, and 19 for the weld specifications. Refer to Illustration 20, typical weld appearance on the bracket ends.
Remove the temporary tie bars on both sides.
If the pin cannot be installed into the bores after final welding, a flap wheel grinder may be used to lightly modify the pin bores until the pin fits. If line boring is necessary, the finished bore on each side is 60.06 +/- 0.05 mm.
