Description of Change: An improved auxiliary sea water pump for 3500 Engines incorporates several changes that are utilized in order to improve sealing and the retention of the impeller. The improvements include the following:
Improved silicon carbide on the silicon carbide water seal
Improved retention and sealing of the oil seal's collar with two radial setscrews rather than Loctite
Improved retention of the impeller for priming utilizing tapered locking rings.
Improved retention of the centrifugal impeller by utilizing a heavier press fitAdaptable To: The new 318-2579 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp is a direct replacement for both the 148-8000 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp and the 144-6080 Auxiliary Sea Water Pump Gp, which are cancelled. The new auxiliary sea water pump is adaptable to the serial numbers that are listed above, back to first production.
