Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install coupling (9) onto piston motor (7) .
Install O-ring seal (8) onto piston motor (7) .

Use two people in order to position piston motor (7) . The weight of piston motor (7) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). Install bolts (6) .

Remove Tooling (A) .
Start the machine and turn the wheels to the center. Turn off the machine.
Release the system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Attach Tooling (A) onto the hydraulic tank. Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (A) . Apply 138 kPa (20 psi). This procedure will pull a vacuum on the hydraulic system.

Position guard (5) and install bolts (4) .
Connect harness assembly (3) .

Remove Tooling (A) .End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
