(1) Shear bolt (2) Shear diskThe machine is equipped with shear disk (2). The shear disk is located under the machine. The shear disk is attached to the output flange of the rotor transmission.If the rotor encounters an stationary object, shear bolt (1) in shear disk (2) will break first. The shear bolt protects the rotor and the other components in the rotor drive system from shock loads. If a shear bolt breaks, the shear bolts must be replaced before the rotor will operate.Note: The machine can be equipped with an optional torque limiter. This component replaces the shear disk. The torque limiter is a friction joint which is spring loaded. This joint allows the torque limiter to slip when the rotor encounters shock loads.
