Installation Procedure

Prevent the machine from movement. Park the machine on a level surface. Block the tires.Attach a "Do Not Operate" warning tag or a similar warning tag to the start switch or to the controls before you service the equipment or before you repair the equipment. These warning tags (Special Instruction, SEHS7332) are available from your Caterpillar dealer.In order to properly align and install the blade rake, it will be necessary to assemble certain components of the rake together prior to welding.This procedure will require the installer to fit together multiple, piece parts, and hold them to the blade simultaneously. This procedure will require the use of a suitable lifting device or devices to safely position the parts.

Positon plates (6) and (7) on the blade. Refer to Illustration 4.
Weld the plates to the blade using an 8 mm (0.32 inch) fillet weld.

Attach hinge assembly (5) to the left hand side of rake assembly (3). Use pin (2), bolt (8), and nut (9) .
Repeat the previous step for the opposite side.
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Position the rake group to the blade assembly by using a suitable lifting device. The approximate weight of the rake group is 282.1 kg (621 lb).

Position hinge assemblies (4), and (5) on the blade. Refer to Illustration 7.
Tack weld the hinge assemblies to the blade.
Allow the welded area to cool. Ensure that the pins (2) can be moved freely.Note: if the pins (2) cannot be removed, then the blade rake will not be removable from the blade. Ensure that the pins (2) can
