Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Support
Some adjustments can be made to the system using Cat® ET with dealer support. The more useful settings are described here.Master Engine
Either Engine 1 or Engine 2 can be the master engine of the pair, leaving the other engine as the secondary engine. This only matters when the engines are coupled since both engines will be controlled to the desired and actual speeds of the master engine. Engine 1 is the master by default, and Engine 1 is a configuration which can be changed with dealer support.High Idle
The high idle is the highest speed to which the engine will be commanded at any time and corresponds to the highest possible valid reading for desired speed from any of the desired speed sources There is one configuration parameter for high idle that serves both engines. The default setting is 1010 RPM. This configuration allows the use of a constant speed generator near 1000 RPM with room for bias under electrical load sharing practices.Low Idle
The low idle is the lowest speed to which the engine will be commanded at any time and corresponds to the lowest possible valid reading for desired speed from any of the desired speed sources. There is one configuration parameter for low idle that serves both engines. The default setting is 450 RPM.Gain Adjustment
The gain of the system adjusts the speed, error, and overshoot of the engine speed. While the affects of changes to the gain are more easily observed during changes in desired speed, the gain can also affect the stability of the engine at constant desired speed. Typically, higher gains in this system provide faster response but can cause instability in certain RPM ranges. Conversely, lower gains may create better stability, but the engine may not respond quickly enough to changes in load. There is one set of gains found in the configuration parameters that adjusts the response of both engines. The default value for these gains is 100 percent and can be adjusted between 0 percent and 200 percent.
