Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic oil tank. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 64 L (17 US gal).

Disconnect hose assembly (1) from hydraulic oil cooler (3) .
Remove bolt (2) that secures the hydraulic oil cooler to the engine.

Remove four bolts (4) that secure fan guard (5) to hydraulic oil cooler (3) .
Support the hydraulic oil cooler. Remove the remaining two bolts that secure hydraulic oil cooler (3) to the mount assembly. Use two people to remove the hydraulic oil cooler.

If necessary, remove three mounts (6) and replace the mounts.Installation Procedure

Use two people to position hydraulic oil cooler (3) on the mount assembly. Install two bolts.
Position fan guard (5) on the hydraulic oil cooler. Install four bolts (4) .

Position hydraulic oil cooler (3) on the engine. Install bolt (2) .
Connect hose assembly (1) to the hydraulic oil cooler.
Fill the hydraulic oil tank with hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Every 1000 Service Hours or 1 Year" for the correct procedure. The capacity of the hydraulic oil tank is 64 L (17 US gal).End By: Install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".
