1. Put chains (1), (4) and (6) around elevator chain and flight assembly (2) and elevator frame cross sections (3) and (5).2. Put a block and floor jack (12) under flight (10).3. Pull flights (7) and (10) together with chain binder (11).4. Remove elevator chain links (8) and (9). See REMOVE CHAIN LINKS.5. Remove chain binder and lower the elevator flight.6. Fasten a hoist to elevator lower shaft (15).7. Remove bolts (13) and (14).8. Remove the bearing hanger (16).9. Remove the elevator lower shaft (15). Weight of elevator lower shaft is 400 lb. (181.44 kg).Install Elevator Lower Shaft
1. Fasten a hoist to elevator lower shaft (2). Weight of shaft is 400 lb. (181.44 kg).2. Lift elevator lower shaft and engage rib on bearing housing (3) with notch in bearing hanger (1). Later machines do not have a rib on the bearing housing or a notch in bearing hanger. The later bearing housing is six sided and the opening in the bearing hanger is six sided.3. Install bearing hanger (5) and engage notch (6) with rib on bearing housing (4), (earlier machine illustrated).4. Install bolts (7) and (8).5. Lift elevator flight (13) with a floor jack.6. Put chain (9) and chain binder (14) around elevator flights (10) and (13).7. Pull elevator chain together with chain binder and install elevator chain links (11) and (12). Remove chain and chain binder.8. Check adjustment of elevator flight and elevator chain. See ELEVATOR FLIGHT ADJUSTMENT and ELEVATOR CHAIN ADJUSTMENT.Disassemble Elevator Lower Shaft
start by: a) remove elevator lower shaft1. Remove bearing housing (1) from elevator shaft (2) with tooling (A) and spacers (3).2. Inspect bearing (4) and seal (5) and remove if they show wear or damage.3. Disassemble other end of elevator lower shaft the same way.Assemble Elevator Lower Shaft
1. Put bearing plate (4) in bearing housing (1) and install bearing (5).2. Install oil seal (3) in housing with lip of seal toward bearing and install bearing and housing on shaft (2).3. Assemble the parts for the other end of shaft the same way and install on shaft.end by: a) install elevator lower shaft
