Information:

Note: The procedure details the installation of one of the suspension cylinders. Repeat the whole procedure of the other suspension cylinder, if necessary.
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Place suspension cylinder (4) on a suitable work surface. Use Tooling (D) in order to install bearing (17) . Repeat the step for the other end of the suspension cylinder.

Turn suspension cylinder (4) onto the opposite side and use Tooling (C) in order to install ring (16) . Repeat the step for the other end of the suspension cylinder.

Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling around suspension cylinder (4) and to a suitable hoist. Lift the suspension cylinder toward the machine. The weight of the suspension cylinder is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).

Install double seal (15) and spacer (14) . Make sure that the spacer is facing toward the rear of the machine. Slowly lower suspension cylinder (4) into bracket (12) .

Align the bores in bracket (12) with the bore in suspension cylinder (4) and install pin (13) .

Install bolt (11) , the washers , the nut, and special washer (10) . Connect grease hose (9) to the special washer.

Use the hoist to lift suspension cylinder (4) . Install two O-ring seals (7) and two spacers (8) before installing suspension cylinder (4) into bracket (5) .

Align the bore in suspension cylinder (4) with bores in bracket (5) and install pin (6) .

Install special washer (1) and secure the special washer in place with bolt (3) and the washer.
Connect grease hose (2) to special washer (1) .
Repeat the whole procedure for the other suspension cylinder, if necessary.

Use Tooling (A) to lower the front frame carefully onto the front suspension. Remove the Tooling from the machine., End By:
Install the fender. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fender - Install".
Charge the suspension cylinders and reset the ride height of the front suspension. Lower the front suspension. Refer to Testing and AdjustingRENR3429, "Suspension Cylinder (Front) - Purge and Charge".
Lubricate the suspension cylinder bearings. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Suspension and Suspension Cylinder Bearings - Lubricate".
