Position water manifold (6) with a new gasket on the cylinder head. Install bolts (9) .
Use Tool (A) to install coolant temperature sensor (8) in water manifold (6). Tighten coolant temperature sensor (8) to a torque of 20 3 N m (15 2 lb ft). Connect the connector for coolant temperature sensor (8) .

Use Tool (B) to install lip type seal (5) in regulator housing (3). Ensure that lip type seal (5) is fully seated in the counterbore of regulator housing (3) .

Install water temperature regulator (4) in regulator housing (3) .

Position regulator housing (3) with a new gasket on the water manifold. Install bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 50 9 N m (37 7 lb ft).
Position hose clamps (3) and tighten the clamps to a torque of 9 3 N m (80 27 lb in).Note: Refer to Specifications, "Water Lines" for more information on the position of hose clamps (3) .
Connect the upper radiator hose to the water manifold.
Fill the cooling system to the correct coolant level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" in the Maintenance Section for more information.Installation Procedure (Type 2)

Use Tool (A) to install lip type seal (6) in regulator housing (4). Ensure that lip type seal (6) is fully seated in the counterbore of regulator housing (4) .

Install water temperature regulator (5) in regulator housing (4) .

Position regulator housing (4) with a new gasket on the cylinder head. Install bolts (2) and tighten bolts (2) .
Install the O-ring seal and a new gasket on elbow (3). Lubricate the O-ring seal with a small amount of glycerin. Install elbow (3) in the water pump. Install bolts (1) and tighten bolts (1) .
Connect the upper radiator hose to regulator housing (4) .
Fill the cooling system to the correct coolant level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" in the Maintenance Section.
