Information:
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Operate the machine in order to warm the hydraulic oil.
Park the machine on level ground. Park machine straight. Lower the decking blade to the ground. Move the grapple tongs together so the tips of the grapple touch each other. Move boom/arch to mid stroke. Note: This position is critical in order to obtain a proper reading of the hydraulic oil level.
Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.
Personal injury or death could result when the access plate is unscrewed from the machine.Be careful when removing the bolts from the access plate. When all of the bolts are removed, the access plate will swing away from the machine.Position yourself out of the path of the access plate or use two people when removing the access plate.

The hydraulic tank is located in the front frame in front of the operator cab. Press the button on the hydraulic tank breather relief valve (1) in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Allow the pressure to escape completely before you proceed.
The hydraulic tank drain hose is attached to the right-hand side of the hydraulic tank. Disconnect the top of the tank drain hose to drain the hydraulic oil tank.
Never start the engine while the hydraulic oil tank is being drained or while the hydraulic oil tank is empty. Excessive wear and damage to the hydraulic components can occur.
Drain the hydraulic oil into a suitable container.
Change all of the hydraulic oil filters. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Filter - Replace" for the correct procedure.Note: Do not fill the hydraulic oil tank to the “FULL” mark when oil is cold. Filling tank with cold hydraulic oil will result in over filling when oil is warmed.
Fill the hydraulic tank with clean oil. Make sure that the oil level is at least at the "ADD" mark on the sight gauge. Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the correct type of oil and for the correct amount of oil.
Start the engine and run the engine until the hydraulic oil temp reaches 45 C (113 F). Then, stop the engine and add hydraulic oil to the tank until the oil level is sufficient on the sight gauge.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle. Cycle the implements so that all hydraulic systems are filled with oil. Note: If the alert message for a low oil level comes on, stop the engine and immediately add oil to the hydraulic tank. The oil level should not be below the suction ports in the
