Schematic Of The Forward Propel SolenoidThis diagnostic code (fault) is recorded when the ECM reads the voltage of the solenoid circuit as above normal (short to +battery). The results of this diagnostic code are:
A category 3 warning is showing on the Computerized Monitoring System.
A diagnostic code affecting this solenoid will shut down the engine. The possible causes for this diagnostic code are:
The energize circuit (822-PK) of the solenoid is shorted to +battery.
ECM is faulty (unlikely). Service Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 050 FMI F03 is on-hold and that the diagnostic code is present. The diagnostic code indicator should be ON.
Check Solenoid energize Circuit For Short To +Battery.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the solenoid.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At machine harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance from contact 10 (822-PK) to all possible sources of +battery. The possible sources of positive voltage are contacts 1, 10, 11, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38Expected Result: The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms.Results:
YES - The machine harness is correct. Proceed to next step.
NO - There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between contact 10 (822-PK) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair or replace the machine harness. STOP.
Check If Diagnostic Code Remains.
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connections.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode of the ECM and clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check to see if CID 050 FMI F03 diagnostic code is present. Expected Result: The CID 050 FMI F03 diagnostic code present.Results:
YES - The diagnostic code has not been corrected. It is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Perform the previous Steps again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing And Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.
NO - Diagnostic code is NOT present; the diagnostic code does not exist at this time. The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation. STOP.
