Replace hose reel spring
If the hose reel spring is fractured, the hydraulic hose could be broken, causing the clamshell bucket to accidentally open. This could cause the load to be dumped onto a person in the work area, resulting in serious injury or death. Do not try to disassemble the hose reel. If the hydraulic hose is disconnected or the hose reel is disassembled, the force of the spring built in hose reel drum will be unexpectedly released, causing the host to uncontrollably wind down. This could result in personal injury.
The hose reel spring, which is a wear part, must be replaced every 500 service hours. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for replacement of the hose reel spring.
