Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Identify all hydraulic lines as they are removed for reinstallation purposes. Cap and plug all lines and fittings to prevent any contaminants from entering the system.1. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system by slowly loosening the fill cap located on top of the hydraulic oil tank. 2. Remove cable tie (2) and disconnect electrical connector (1). 3. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (6) from vibratory motor (4). Cap and plug immediately.4. Remove four nuts (5) and the washers. Pull the vibratory motor from the drum, and remove the four bolts and washers (not shown) that fasten the vibratory motor to the drive shaft. Remove vibratory motor (4) from the machine. Start By:a. remove vibratory motor 1. Remove bolt (3) and washer (2), and remove plate (1) and the coupling from the shaft. 2. Remove four bolts (8) and the washers, and remove coupling (6) from plate (1).3. Remove magnetic pickup (4) and the spacer from plate (5).4. Remove two bolts (7), the washers and the nuts, and remove plate (5) from the housing. 5. Remove four bolts (9), and remove end cap (10) from the housing. For correct assembly, note the orientation of openings in port plate (11) and end plate (10) before removing the port plate from the end cap.6. Remove port plate (11) and dowel (13) from end cap (10).7. If necessary, remove bearing (12) from the end cap. 8. Remove O-ring seal (14) and two dowels (15) from housing (18).9. Hold cylinder block (17) on shaft (16). Turn the housing over, and separate the housing and shaft from cylinder block (17) and the pistons. 10. Remove plate (19) and nine pistons (20) from cylinder block (17). 11. Remove nine pistons (20) from plate (19). For correct assembly, note the orientation of washers (22) and (23) when removing them from the balljoint and cylinder block.12.
