D11N (4HK, 74Z) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSProblem:
The information in Special Instruction REHS0224 regarding the rework of the powertrain oil lines on D11N (74Z) Track-Type Tractors is incomplete. The special instruction calls for the 8E-8577 manifold to be replaced by a 130-3395 manifold. This is required to facilitate the installation of a larger I.D. lube supply hose assembly (142-1593). However, the 8E-8577 Manifold has provisions for blocking a 57.15 mm (2.250 inch) diameter passage into the front of the case. (This passage was removed effective with D11R (4HK1-Up) Track-Type Tractors.) The 130-3395 Manifold does not block this passage which allows lube oil to dump to the case.Solution:
Use one 0L-1024 Cup plug (Freeze Plug) and press flush into the 57.15 mm (2.250 inch) diameter hole. After installation, tack weld into place. Special Instruction REHS0224 will be corrected.COPYRIGHT 2000 CATERPILLAR ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
