The engine must be in operation.
The truck should move back toward the paver until the truck wheels contact the paver push roller. Ensure that the quick hitch is open until the truck pulls into position. This is for machines that are equipped with a quick hitch. Then move the hitch switch to the CLOSE position.Note: The paver has a relief slot in the tow point connection. The relief slot absorbs most of the shock that comes from trucks that back up to the paver.The mat can still be marred if the shock is great enough. Spotters should be used in order to stop the trucks close to the paver and short of the paver. The paver should then move into contact with the truck.
Ensure that the truck dumps asphalt into the hoppers of the paver.
Use the auto/manual feeder control in order to fill the auger chamber in the MANUAL position. Fill the auger chamber by use of the conveyors. Use the auger to remove asphalt until the correct head of material is obtained. This method will decrease the possibility of precompaction by the augers.
When the head of asphalt is about halfway up the screw conveyor at the outer edges, return the feeder switches to the AUTO position.
