If the counterweight is equipped with lifting brackets, fasten suitable lifting links to the brackets. Fasten a suitable lifting device to the counterweight, as shown.

Remove bolts (9) and the spacers that secure the counterweight to the main frame of the machine. Remove the counterweight. The weight range of the counterweight can be from 3868 kg (8525 lb) to 7165 kg (15800 lb). Installation Procedure

Personal injury or death can occur from a counterweight falling during removal or installation.Do not allow personnel under or around the counterweight during removal or installation.Make sure that the lifting device is in good condition and is capable of handling the weight of the counterweight.

Make sure that the threaded holes in the top of the counterweight are clean prior to installation of Tooling (A). Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in the threaded holes of the counterweight, as shown. Note: Make sure that Tooling (A) is completely threaded into the threaded holes in the counterweight.

Position the counterweight on the main frame of the machine. Apply 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of mounting bolts (9). Also apply 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound between the bolt heads and the spacers.
Install bolts (9) and the spacers that secure the counterweight to the main frame of the machine.
Remove Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device from the threaded holes in the counterweight. If the counterweight is equipped with lifting brackets, remove the lifting links from the lifting brackets.

Use Tooling (B) in order to install caps (1) to the top of the counterweight. Tighten caps (1) to a torque of 12 4 N m (9 3 lb ft).

Install springs (6).
Install hood support rod (7). Install the washer and cotter pin (5).
