Note: Make sure that the snap ring is fully seated before you release the pressure of the press.
Use a press to apply pressure to the brake cylinder. Install snap ring (13). Slowly release the pressure of the press.

Install spring pins (11) in the brake cylinder. Install the spring pins until the spring pins are flush with the housing.

Install O-ring seal (10) on the brake cylinder.

Install vent plug (12) on the brake cylinder.

Note: Make sure that the vent plug and the hose fitting are in the correct position.
Position brake cylinder (9) on the brake shaft. Temporarily install two bolts in order to hold the brake cylinder in position.

Use a hammer and a brass pin in order to install the spring pins into the brake cylinder. Install the spring pin until half of the spring pin is installed into the spacer. Remove the two bolts from the brake cylinder.

Use Tooling (C) in order to install lip type seal (6) into the flange. Install the lip type seal with the sealing lip toward the bearing. Install the seal until the seal makes contact with the flange.

Use Tooling (C) in order to install roller bearing (7). Install the roller bearing until the bearing is flush with the bore.

Install spring pins (5) into the flange. Install the spring pins until the spring pins are flush with the flange.

Install O-ring seal (4) on the flange.

Note: Make sure that the mounting flange is installed in the original position.
Position flange (3) on the brake cylinder.
Install bolts (2). Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 87 7 N m (64 5 lb ft).

Typical example
Use a hammer and a brass pin in order to install the spring pins into the flange. Install the spring pin until half of the spring pin is installed into the spacer.

Fasten Tooling (B), lifting chains, and a hoist to speed reducer (1), as shown. The weight of the speed reducer is 680 kg (1500 lb).
Remove the speed reducer from Tooling (A) .End By: Install the speed reducer. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Speed Reducer - Install" in this manual.
