Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install Tooling (C) into barrel (37) .

Raise the housing to 80 °C (176 °F). Place the housing on suitable blocks.

Lower the rotary assembly into the housing. Install a new seal (29) .

Install shim (33) .
Use Tooling (E) in order to install retaining ring (34) .

Note: Use the recorded distance from the locknut to the end of the set screw for installation purposes.
Install locknuts (31) and screws (32) .

Install head (3) on the housing. Turn the shaft and tighten bolts (2) at the same time.
Remove bolts (2) . Remove head (3) .

Remove Tooling (C) . Remove barrel (37) .

Remove Tooling (G) from barrel (37) .

Measure the thickness of Tooling (G) , Dimension (Z) . Subtract 0.3 0.1 mm (.012 .004 inch) from Dimension (Z) . Use a shim of this dimension in order to set the correct lift off limitation.Example (Z) = 5.00 mm (0.197 inch) - 0.3 0.1 mm (.012 .004 inch) = 4.70 mm 0.10 (0.185 inch 0.004 inch).

Install shim (43) that was determined in Step 22.n into barrel (37) . Use a small amount of grease in order to hold the shim in the barrel .

Install barrel (37) .

Install head (3) and bolts (2) . Tighten to a torque of 87 N m (64.2 lb ft).
