9T-8778 Valve Body used in 244-5438 Control Valve Gp on D11T Track-Type Tractors may have a casting quality defect. Internal metal flashing can break loose and lead to contamination in the hydraulic system. Product has been contained at CAT East Peoria, however 49 machines were built and shipped with valves that need to be replaced and the hydraulic system flushed and filter inspected/changed. Other affected valve groups used in service only 204-5575 Control Valve Gp and 124-6990 Control Valve Gp.Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.
Machines (S/N: AMA719-744; JEL437-455; MDG188-192) have valves made during this suspect period and need to have this valve replaced, the hydraulic system flushed, and filter inspected and replaced. Certified valve groups are currently being stocked. It is important to try to make this repair as soon as possible and before cylinders are installed to avoid possible contingent damage to the cylinders. Machines that have the high-pressure discharge screen after the implement pump should inspect the screen for any possible damage that may have been incurred by the pump, due to the valve sticking, causing excessive pump pressure and seal damage. Machines that do not have the high-pressure screen need to have the implement pump removed and inspected for seal damage.

Inspect filters for any debris (metal /casting sand/plastic/rubber). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8499.
Inspect both implement return filter (metal debris/casting sand) and pump discharge screen (if equipped) for pump seal (plastic/rubber & possible metal) contaminants.
If debris found in discharge screen:
The 445-2672 Gear Pump Gp or 228-4838 Gear Pump Gp will need to be removed, dis-assembled, and inspected for signs of damage or debris and rebuilt or replaced as necessary. Pump lines should be purged, prior to reassembly/replacement. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR5625.
If cylinders have been installed on the machine, the cylinders will also need to be inspected for possible contamination. Refer to "If Cylinders Were Installed On the Machine and Metal Contaminants Are Found In the Tank Return Filter".
Replace the implement valve with a new 244-5438 Control Valve Gp or 244-5440 Control Valve Gp ordered from Cat Parts & Service. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR5625.
Once new valve and pump (if needed) are installed, purge fluid and debris from cylinder lines.
Run the kidney loop procedure as specified for the machine.
