Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the bottom guards. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install" in this module.
Remove the drive shaft from the pump. See the procedure in Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Pump Coupling) - Remove and Install" in this module.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the transmission and bevel gear case.
Remove the floorplate from the machine.

Disconnect three hose assemblies (1) from power train oil pump (2) .

Disconnect switch (3). Remove bolts (4) with the washers that hold tube assembly (5) to the pump.

Remove bolts (6) with the washers. Remove tube assembly (5) from the bevel gear case.

Remove O-ring seal (7) from flange (8). Remove tube assembly (9) from filter housing (10) .

Remove flange (8) from tube (9). Remove O-ring seals (11) .

Remove nuts (12) and plate (13). Remove the following components from the filter housing: washer (14), screen (15) and tube assembly (16) with the magnets.

Attach a lifting device to the power train oil pump. Remove bolts (17) and nuts (18). Remove the pump from the machine. The power train oil pump weighs approximately 41 kg (90 lb).
