For machines equipped with the Payload Control System (PCS), recalibration is required.
Update the software on the machine and perform the necessary recalibrations. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.
Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) 2013B or newer should be used to perform these software updates.
Note: Create a full Product Status Report (PSR) and ECM replacement files for the machine before performing the updates as some configurations and settings could be erased during the software installation process. This will allow a point of reference to restore the settings of the machine after the update.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO COMPLETE THIS PROGRAM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Rework Procedure
Before going to machine:
1. Ensure you have all the applicable software files as called out in the Parts Needed for the Affected Product group before going to the machine.
2. Launch SIS Web and ensure that the flash files called out in the Parts Needed is the latest flash file part number. A newer flash file part number may be available.
3. Ensure that the Communications Adapter has the latest firmware updates and PC drivers, and that ET is updated to the latest available version. Communications Adapter and ET news, drivers and firmware are available at "https://dealer.cat.com"
Update Procedure:
1. Before updating the software run a Product Status Report (PSR) and save the report for reference.
2. Before updating the software, save ECM replacement files for each ECM to be updated (in Cat ET: Use Service -> Copy Configuration -> ECM Replacement, click yes to load from ECM, select ECM then save to file. To do the next ECM click Load from ECM then Save to file).
Note: Much of the configuration information will be reset by performing these updates. Failure to create ECM replacement files will result in a loss of configuration information which could require DSN assistance and create unnecessary machine downtime.
3. Update the software on the machine as called out in the Parts Needed for the Affected Product group.
4. Reload the updated ECMs with their respective ECM replacement files to ensure that no configurations or calibrations are lost.
5. If the machine is equipped with Lock Up Clutch, set the "Lock Up Clutch Installation Status" parameter in the transmission ECM configuration in ET to "Installed."
6. If the machine is equipped with a Heavy Duty transmission, set the "Transmission Type" parameter in the transmission ECM configuration in ET to "Heavy Duty" then perform the Heavy Duty transmission calibration as called out in KENR6446, section "Fill Time for the Transnmission Clutch (Electronic Technician) - Calibrate."
7. In addition, for machines in Group 2, perform a payload recalibration as called out in the PCS Systems Operation guide UENR2492, section "Payload System - Calibrate."
