When using jumper cables, always connect positive (+) cable to positive (+) terminal of battery connected to starter solenoid and negative (-) cable from external source to starter negative (-) terminal. (If not equipped with starter negative terminal, connect to engine block.) Follow procedure in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Shut off engine and wait five minutes for hydraulic system pressure to dissipate.2. Relieve gas pressure in the accumulator cylinder by opening the charging valve one turn only.See your Caterpillar dealer for tools and detailed information required for charging cylinders.Charge cylinder with dry nitrogen gas.

BLOCK THE APRON UP WHEN MAINTENANCE REQUIRES THE APRON TO BE OPEN.Apron movement can cause serious injury unless these steps are taken.
Place the apron in the up position.
Stop the engine.
Move the disconnect switch to off and remove the key.
Place a Do Not Operate tag on the steering wheel.
Remove the retaining bolt (A).
Remove the pin (B). Storage opposite end some models.
Install the pin (B) in position (C).
Install the retaining bolt (A).
Lower the apron on to the pin (B).
