4. Loosen locknut (2) and turn nut (3) to the right (tighten) until the spring force is released and lever (1) is loose.5. Remove the cotter pin and pin (4) that connects the yoke to lever (1). 6. Remove nuts (5) and parking brake chamber (6) from the machine.Install Parking Brake Chamber
1. Put parking brake chamber (1) in position on the machine as shown and install the bolts that hold it. 2. Connect air line (3) to parking brake chamber (1).3. Connect the yoke to lever (2) and install pin (4) and the cotter pin.4. Make adjustments to the brake. See PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS.Disassemble Parking Brake Chamber
START BY:a) remove parking brake chamber
Spring pressure is present inside the brake chamber. To prevent serious personal injury, follow the instructions carefully.
1. Remove yoke (1) and nuts (2) from the rod. 2. Turn nut (3) to the right (tighten) until the nut makes contact with plate (5). Turn nut (3) 12.7 mm (.50 in.) more. This will release the spring force on cylinder (4).3. Remove bolts (6) and cylinder (4) from the brake chamber assembly. 4. Carefully remove nut (3), plate (5) and cover (7) from the piston assembly. 5. Remove outer spring (8) and inner spring (9) from the piston assembly. 6. Remove seals (10) and (11) from the piston assembly. 7. Remove boot retainer (13) and boot (12) from cover (7). 8. Remove seal (14) from cover (7).Assemble Parking Brake Chamber
1. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of all parts that are worn or damaged. 2. Install seal (1) on cover (2) as shown. 3. Install boot retainer (4) on the lip of boot (3). Install the boot and the boot retainer in cover (2). 4. Install seal (5) on the piston so that the lip of the seal will be toward the cylinder when installed.5. Install felt seal (6) on the piston. 6. Install inner spring (7) and outer spring (8) on the piston assembly. 7. Install cover (2), plate (10) and nut (9) on the piston assembly.8. Tighten nut (9) so it will make a compression of the springs. 9. Put cylinder (11) in position on the brake assembly and install the bolts. 10. Install locknuts (13) and yoke (12) on the rod.END BY:a) install parking brake chamber
