Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove five bolts (1) and bracket (2).
Remove bolts (3) and bracket (4).
Disconnect adapter (5), tube assembly (6), and tube assembly (7).

Remove bolts (8).

Disconnect tube assembly (9) and tube assembly (10).

Remove bolts (12) from support plate (13).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to aftercooler (11). The weight of aftercooler (11) is approximately 290 kg (640 lb). Remove aftercooler (11).Installation Procedure
Install aftercooler (11) in the reverse order of the removal.

Install bolts (1), (2), (3), and (4).
Install the rest of the bolts in the pattern as shown in the illustration 5.
Tighten the bolts in the pattern as shown in the illustration 5 to a torque of 55 N m (41 lb ft).
After completing retighten bolts (1), (2), (3), and (4) to a torque of 55 N m (41 lb ft).
Retighten bolts (34), (40), (37), (29), (35), (39), (38), and (36) to a torque of 55 N m (41 lb ft).
