Remove & Install Sea Water Pump (JABSCO)
1. Drain the coolant in the engine to a level below the sea water pump. 2. Disconnect hose assembly (1). Cap and plug all openings immediately. 3. Cut tie wrap (2). 4. Remove four bolts and washers (3). Disconnect elbow assembly (4) from the sea water pump. 5. Remove gasket (5). 6. Remove four bolts and washers (7). Remove clip (6).7. Remove sea water pump (8). 8. Remove gasket (9).9. Remove four nuts and washers (10).10. Remove pump drive (11).11. Remove the O-ring seal from the pump drive. The following steps are for the installation of the sea water pump.12. Check the condition of the O-ring seal used on the pump drive. If necessary, replace with a new part. 13. Place pump drive (11) in position. Install four nuts and washers (10). Install a new gasket (9). 14. Place sea water pump (8) in position. Make sure the splined shaft on the sea water pump is in alignment with the coupling on the pump drive. Install clip (6) and four bolts and washers (7). 15. Install a new gasket (5). 16. Connect elbow assembly (4) and install four bolts and washers (3). 17. Install tie wrap (2). 18. Connect hose assembly (1).19. Fill the engine with coolant to the correct level. Start By:a. remove sea water pump 1. Remove four bolts and washers (1).2. Remove cover (2) from body (3). 3. Remove seal (4). 4. Remove impeller (5) and cam (6) from body (3). 5. Remove O-ring seal (7) and O-ring seal (8) from body (3).
There is spring force against spring seat (9). When retaining ring (10) is removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent possible personal injury, hold spring seat (9) in position as retaining ring (10) is slowly removed.
6. Remove retaining ring (10) with Tool (A).7. Remove spring seat (9) and spring (11). 8. Remove plate (12) from body (3). 9. Remove seal assembly (13) from body (3). If necessary, remove dowel (14). 10. Use Tool (B) to remove retaining ring (15) from housing (16). 11. Remove four bolts and washers (17). 12. Separate body (3) from housing (16). 13. Remove seal (18) from body (3) if necessary. 14. Remove O-ring seal (19).15. Use a soft hammer and tap shaft assembly (20) out of housing (16). 16. Remove shaft seal (21) from housing (16). 17. Use a press as shown to remove bearing (22) from shaft assembly (20). 18. Turn shaft assembly (20) over and use a press to remove bearing (23). The following steps are for the assembly of the sea water pump. 19. Heat bearings (22) and (23) to a temperature of 135 C° (275 F°) and install onto shaft assembly (20). 20. Install shaft seal (21) onto shaft assembly (20) as shown. 21. Install shaft assembly (20) in its original position in housing (16). (Tap lightly with a soft hammer).
