PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR UPDATING HYDRAULIC HOSE MACHINE SOFTWARE AND PROVIDING MISSING DIE SET

When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
A total of 85 hose machine groups were shipped with incorrect software. These machines were also shipped without a 36mm Die Set. This program will provide the correct software and the missing die set.
Machine groups affected follow:
358-4530 Hose Machine Group; 358-4526 Hose Machine
358-4532 Hose Machine Group; 358-4528 Hose Machine
358-4533 Hose Machine Group; 358-4529 Hose Machine
ACTION REQUIRED
The parts shown in the following chart will be shipped direct to the dealer with the affected hose machine groups in their dealer tool inventory.
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure to install the new software.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all Hose Machines updated per dealership.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Turn the main power switch to the off "0" position.
2. Unplug the USB caliper cable from the connector at the back of the Crimputer.
3. Insert the USB flash drive with the files into the connector at the back of the Crimputer.
4. Turn on the main power switch "1" and allow the system to fully reboot.
Note: You should receive a message at the end of the update process that reads, "Remove USB stick, turn off, and turn on main machine power switch."
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Note: If you do not receive this message, try copying files to a different USB flash drive and repeat Steps 1 ? 5.

6. Once the system reboots, the initial start-up screen will look like Figure 1. Take a digital photo and send to email address provided below. This is the first of three pictures that must be taken to confirm update procedure was completed correctly.
7. Press the blue information "i" button at the bottom of the screen to see the revision levels of all three pieces of software as shown in Figure 2. Take a digital photo and send to email address provided below. This is the second of three pictures that must be taken to confirm update procedure was completed correctly.
8. Once these steps are complete, press "Exit," then "OK" to log into the machine.
9. Perform the Calibration Procedure. Take a digital photo of "calibration complete" screen and send to email address provided below. This is the third and final picture that must be taken to confirm update procedure was completed correctly. Note: results from calibration can vary slightly but should fall within the following range: 1.000001 to 1.009999 If calibration number does not fall within this range, try calibration sequence again.
