Information:
1. Push both brake pedals down. 2. Push the parking brake lock lever in. Release the brake pedals. 3. Move the forward-neutral-reverse directional lever to NEUTRAL. 4. Move the transmission speed lever to NEUTRAL. 5. Move the implement control levers to HOLD. 6. Pull the governor control lever back through the shut-off detent. Then return it to the LOW IDLE position. 7. The flywheel clutch lever must be held all the way forward (brake engaged) to start the engine. 8. Insert the key into the switch and turn the key to ON. 9. Push the start button IN to start the engine.10. Release the button after the engine starts.
Do not turn the key switch to OFF while the engine is running to avoid electrical damage. After every 30 seconds of engine cranking, allow 2 minutes for the starting motor to cool before cranking again.
Starting With Boost Cables
Batteries give off flammable fumes that can explode.Prevent sparks near the batteries. They could cause vapors to explode. Do not allow jumper cable ends to contact each other or the engine.Do not smoke when observing the battery electrolyte levels.Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts skin or eyes.Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.Improper jumper cable connections can cause an explosion resulting in personal injury.
When boost starting machine, refer to the instructions that follow to properly start the machine. When using external electrical source to start machine, turn switch off and remove key before attaching booster cables. This machine has a 12 Volt starting system. Use only equal voltage for boost starting. Use of welder or higher voltage will damage electrical system. When using jumper cables always connect POSITIVE (+) cable to POSITIVE (+) terminal of battery connected to starter solenoid and NEGATIVE (-) cable from external source to starter NEGATIVE (-) terminal. If not equipped with a starter NEGATIVE terminal, connect to the engine block.
1. Move the transmission control levers into NEUTRAL (N). Engage the parking brake lock. Lower all implements to the ground. Turn the switch key to OFF. 2. Remove the battery compartment access cover. 3. Lift the clamp protector out of the way. Connect one end of cable to the POSITIVE (+) terminal (red cable) of the battery on the machine being started. Connect the other end to the POSITIVE (+) terminal of the power source.4. Connect one end of the other cable to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal of the power source. Connect the other end to the starter NEGATIVE (-) terminal or to the engine block.5. Start the engine.6. After the engine starts, disconnect the cable from the starter NEGATIVE (-) terminal or engine block.7. Disconnect the other end from the NEGATIVE (-) terminal of the power source.8. Disconnect the cable from the POSITIVE (+) terminal of the battery on the machine being started.9. Disconnect the cable from the POSITIVE (+) terminal of the power source.10. Install the access cover.
