Using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician
This calibration is used to limit the pressure that the hoist system develops when placed in lower. The calibration procedures are performed in order to compensate for the variations in the components that are attached to the Chassis ECM. The hoist lower pressure limit calibration function is used in order to set the maximum down pressure that can be developed by the hoist system. This calibration procedure must be performed under the following conditions:
Perform the calibration before the machine is delivered to the customer.
Perform the calibration after replacing or servicing the ECM.
Perform the calibration after the moving of an ECM from one machine to another machine.
Perform the calibration after replacing or servicing any of the hoist solenoids.
Perform the calibration after replacing or servicing any of the hoist pumps, hoist valves, hoist cylinders, etc.It is important that this calibration is competed, as improper calibration may result in excessive force on the body cables. Before starting the calibration, perform the following steps:
Lower the body
Turn off the engine.
Attach a gauge of the appropriate pressure range in order to measure the hoist cylinder lower pressure. Before beginning the calibration procedure, perform the following steps:
Place the shift lever in neutral.
Engage the parking brake.
Start the engine. Set the engine speed to low idle.
Start the engine. Set the engine speed to low idle.Connect with the ET in order to perform calibration procedures. Select the "CALIBRATION" option from the ET menu. Follow the instructions that are provided.Note: When the calibration is started, the engine will accelerate automatically to high idle. An error message will be displayed if the set up conditions are not met. The operator will not be allowed to continue the set up process. If any of these conditions are not met during the calibration procedure, the procedure is aborted immediately. During the calibration, the operator will be instructed to place the hoist system in lower. While the operator has the hoist system in lower, the down pressure at the rod end of the hoist cylinders should be measured. Adjust the hoist lower limit using the ET until the pressure agrees with the pressure ranges specified in the ET.Note: The hoist lower calibration is only supported with later versions of software.
