( 1 ) Use the following parts for installation of the 270-8800 Track Gp or the 270-8801 Track Gp .Preparation of the Undercarriage
Note: While the track is off the machine check for wear on the track roller frame. Repair any worn parts or replace worn parts such as track rollers, carrier rollers, front idlers, etc.
Separate the track on both sides of the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track-Separate" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the sprocket segments from both sides of the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Sprocket Segment-Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Use a wire brush or a wire wheel in order to clean the mounting areas of the final drive sprocket's carrier assembly.
Remove the carrier rollers if you are installing replacement rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Carrier Roller-Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the idlers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Idler and Yoke-Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.
Remove the rollers if you are installing replacement rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller-Remove" in the Service Manual for the proper procedure.Preparation for Service
Note: Stronger recoil springs are available for the following machine models: D3C, D3G, D4C and D4G. The procedure for replacement of the recoil spring is in Special Instruction, REHS3063, "Upgrade for Recoil Spring on D3G and D4G Track-Type Tractors".
Install new sprocket segments (1) and (2) on the final drive carrier assembly. See Table 2. Each side of the tractor uses one item (1) and one item (2). Torque bolts (3) to 120 20 N m (89 15 lb ft).Note: Use a wire brush or a wire wheel in order to clean the hubs before installing the segments.
Install the single flange (4) and double flange rollers (5). Starting at the front of the machine install the rollers in the following sequence:
Single flange roller
Double flange roller
Single flange roller
Double flange roller
Single flange roller
Double flange roller
Single flange roller
Install new carrier rollers (6) .
