The new channel assemblyThe 255-0647 Channel As was improved in the 242-3290 Radiator Gp. The channel assembly was lengthened in order to prevent debris from entering the radiator. In order for the new channel assembly to be installed, you must remove the radiator.The new parts and the improved parts are adaptable to machines JRP1-2228 and JXP1-151. The new parts and the improved parts became effective in production with the machines JRP2229-UP and JXP152-UP.Use the following procedure in order to upgrade the baffle assemblies on earlier machines.

Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move the machine away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
Move the transmission control to the PARK position.
Activate the parking brakes. Stop the engine.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
Make sure that the transmission rotary selector spool is in the PARK position.

Remove cowling (6) from the machine. For the proper procedure, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8300, "777F Off-Highway Truck Engine Supplement", "Cowling (Radiator) - Remove and Install".

The former baffle assemblies

Remove the six bolts (8) and washers (9) that hold the right baffle assembly (7) to the radiator. Discard the baffle assembly. Save the six bolts and washers.
By using the six bolts (8) and the six washers (9) that were removed in Step 8, install the new baffle assembly (1) to the right side of the radiator. Torque the bolts to 55 10 N m (41.0 7.0 lb ft).

Refer to Illustration 4. Remove the six bolts (11) and washers (12) that hold the left baffle assembly (10) to the radiator. Discard the baffle assembly. Save the six bolts and washers.
By using the six bolts (11) and the six washers (12) that were removed in Step 10, install the new baffle assembly (2) to the left side of the radiator. Torque the bolts to 55 10 N m (41.0 7.0 lb ft).

Clean the bottom area (13) of the radiator. Remove any dirt and debris from the area. Clean the area with an alkaline cleaning solution.
Remove the four bolts (14) and washers (15) from the bottom of the radiator. Save the bolts and washers.

Apply adhesive (4) to area (13). Install the new seal (3)
