Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot oil spray.Make sure all attachments have been lowered, oil is cool and the pressure has been released from the hydraulic system before removing any components or lines.Be sure there is no pressure in the tubing before it is disconnected from the fitting.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.Note: The solenoid valve for the torque converter lockup clutch is mounted on the torque converter above the transmission pump.

Disconnect electrical connector (2) .
Remove bolts (3) and solenoid valve (1) .

Remove seal (4) from solenoid valve (1) .Installation Procedure

Install new seal (4) on solenoid valve (1) .

Install bolts (3) and solenoid valve (1) .
Connect electrical connector (2) .
Start the engine and check for leaks.End By: Disconnect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
