(1) Fan pumpCharge oil for the material feed system is supplied by fan pump (1). The fan pump is part of the upper right pump stack located in the pump compartment. The hopper doors provide access to the pump.Fan pump (1) is a fixed displacement, gear pump. This pump supplies charge oil for swashplate adjustment in the material feed pumps and provides makeup oil for the material feed system.When the engine is operating, fan pump (1) draws oil from the hydraulic tank and supplies flow to the fan motor. From the fan motor, the oil flows through the charge filter to the material feed pumps.

(5) S O S tapCharge filter (2) is located in the pump compartment. The left hopper door provides access to the filter.The base of charge filter (2) contains a bypass valve (not visible) and pressure switch (4). The switch measures the differential pressure across the bypass valve, and is monitored by the transmission ECM. If the charge filter is plugged, the switch actuates and the transmission ECM sends an error code to the operator display to alert the operator.The base of charge filter (2) also contains two taps. S O S tap (5) allows hydraulic oil samples to be drawn from the inlet of the filter. Pressure tap (3) is used to measure the charge pressure on the outlet of the filter. When the material feed system is not operating, the charge pressure should be 2700 175 kPa (392 25 psi).
