Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped.
If the crankcase breather is not maintained on a regular basis, it can become plugged. A plugged breather will cause excessive crankcase pressure that may cause crankshaft seal leakage.

(1) Breather assembly
(2) Bolt
Remove bolt (2) and the washer. Remove the breather assembly (1) and the seal.
Wash the breather element in solvent that is clean and nonflammable. Allow the breather element to dry before installation.
Install a breather element that is clean and dry. Install breather assembly (1) and the seal.
Install bolt (2) and the washer. Refer to Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications" for the correct torque.
