Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The drain procedure explained is to be performed every 50 operating hours. Purifiers operating in harsh environmental conditions, high humidity, dust, ect, or when cleaning seriously contaminated fuel, or operating in fuel cleaning or polishing operations will require more frequent draining.

Remove the four bolts and remove the access cover on the rear of the machine to access the Fuel Purifier
Place a suitable container directly underneath the drain valve.
Open drain valve located at the bottom of the purifier. Purge or drain full into container.
After the purifier is drained, close drain. Dispose of the drained fluid in a safe place.
