Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Start By:
Remove water pump.

Remove plug (1), water pump filter (2), plug (3), and plug (4).

Remove bolts (5), pump housing (7), and O-ring seal (6).

Install Tooling (B) under impeller (8). Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to remove the impeller.Note: Do not allow bearing housing (9) to fall the floor when the impeller is removed from the pump shaft.

Remove bolts (10) and retainer (11). Press pump shaft (12) from bearing housing (9) by applying pressure on the shaft from the impeller end..Note: Ceramic seal (13) will be removed from the shaft assembly when the pump shaft is removed from the bearing housing.

Install pump shaft (12) in Tooling (C). Loosen set screws (14). Use Tooling (D) to remove bearing locknut (16) from the pump shaft.Note: The splined end of the pump shaft is marked to indicate either RH threads or LH threads on the pump shaft.

Use Tooling (E) to remove bearing assembly (16) from pump shaft (12).
