Test locations for the ignition transformer (typical example)
(1) Positive terminal for the primary ignition coil
(2) Positive for the secondary ignition coil
(3) Ground for the primary ignition coils and secondary ignition coils (negative terminal) Thoroughly inspect the body of the transformer for hairline cracks. Also, inspect the rubber boot of the transformer for cracking and swelling. Replace the transformer if damage is found.Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the primary windings of the transformer between terminals (1) and (3).
