Information:
Environments which are enclosed and have excessive amounts of loose dust and debris can create air flow side plugging problems on folded core radiators. Multiple row modules are available to convert many commercial folded core radiators. Additionally, some radiators can be upgraded to high ambient performance by using multiple row module cores that have additional tube rows.
The commercial folded core radiator family is composed of seven radiators. The radiators are often identified by fan diameter and number of modules. For example, 40/9 designates a radiator with a 40 inch fan and 9 modules. The chart lists the commercial radiators by size and radiator group part number. The chart identifies the new components (modules, seals, and straps) required to converter from folded core to multiple row modules.
Commercial Folded Core To Multiple Row Module Radiator Conversion Procedure
Use this procedure for all but the 36/8 size radiator (7C2488 Radiator Group). For that radiator see Modification Procedure For 36/8 Size Radiator.
See the Reference Article. Since the core spacing is different than most of the vehicular radiators, a slightly different module orientation procedure is required.
1. Position the bottom tank securely. Install new 4P9942 and 4P9943 Seals on the bottom tank. Lubricate the new seals with rubber lubricant or dish soap. Do NOT use petroleum products to lubricate the seals. Find the row of locating "dimples" on the grill side of the bottom tank. The first two modules will be installed at opposite ends of the bottom tank.2. Position the first module in the bottom tank so the modules center tab cutoff (wide side of the module) is directed away from the locating dimple in the bottom tank. Use care not to cut or distort the coolant seals during installation of the modules. Often a seal problem does not become evident until
